Dusting, Trimming, and Hair Update

It’s been about a month since my relaxer, and I’m still on a love/hate relationship with my hair.  I enjoyed it right after I relaxed, but stupid me forgot to do a hard protein treatment the next week, so I had tons of breakage and shedding.  I’ve had that for a while, but I was finally tired of it.  So last week I used the Aphogee 2 Step Protein Treatment, and that worked nicely to decrease the breakage.

Another source of my breakage was split ends.  My hair has grown past should length, but I wasn’t happy with my ends at all.  They were disgusting, but I didn’t have the cash right now to get it done at my usual salon.  So, I decided to try my hand at it myself.  Actually, I’ve wanted to do it for months now, I even bought hair shears and everything, but I was incredibly scared of screwing up.  Yesterday, I decided to suck it up since my hair desperately needed it, so I watched tons of videos on dusting and trimming and did it myself.  Here is the main one I used for those of you that are interested:

So far, I like how it turned out.  I’m still past shoulder length, but my wispy, thin ends are finally gone.   Now I’m set on babying them and to retain some length that I can be proud of.

I bought a ton of new things that I’ll review as I try them out some more.  They’re on the sidebar if you want to see what they are, and if anyone wants a review on something faster, just give me a heads up 🙂

Long Awaited Update

I can’t believe I totally forgot about this blog.  I got really caught up with college, and trying to balance everything.  Now that I’m settled (and on Winter Break), I’ll be trying to update it again.  Let’s talk about my hair, though, shall we…

So, I’ve had major setbacks and restarts with my hair journey.   I got extremely lazy in college, and I found keeping up a good, steady regimen was much harder to do while away from home.  I think I handled all that though and plan to keep going with my new regimen. I’ve been relaxing about every 9 weeks whenever I go home, which I think is pretty good.  I’m a little bit past shoulder length now.  However, I’m not proud of my hair at all.  I hate my ends.  I am in desperate need of a trim, and plan on getting it done while I’m home.  After that, I think I might say my hair journey is “restarting”.  In fact, I think I might have already started over.  Mark the date guys:  December 20, 2011.  I want to go to a salon for a trim, but after that I’m not going anymore.  My mom doesn’t want me to, but she said she’ll finance my hair needs, so I guess that’s a plus.  I’m pretty sure I know what new shampoos, conditioners, leave-ins, etc I want to get and I can’t wait to see how my hair reacts to everything.

I’ll keep you guys posted on how everything goes.
